[He shakes his head at how easily Vyng takes this in stride. Like it was only natural. What did Adam due to deserve such a good friend?
He really was going to send a fruit basket.]
I'm-- [He lets out a breathy laugh.] Fine, actually. A little overwhelmed still. Takashi said I was missing for three months, but it was only seconds for me.
[He waves a hand, dismissive.] It's fine. It was a shock, but it was more of a shock for Takashi. We made promises to each other, and he thinks he failed.
[A dry laugh. But what else was new? Takashi always put everything on his own shoulders.]
I got here the same time as Shiro. We met on a pirate ship. Busted out. Hijacked a boat, and then made it to shore.
[As one does.]
You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Shiro showed up first because he wanted to make sure everything was safe for his darling husband. But then he accidentally forgot any squid thoughts he'd ever had once he turned human.
[Adam blinks -- then huffs out a laugh. Yes, that tracks. That's absolutely how Takashi's, and apparently Vying's, life works.]
His darling husband, hm? [He supposed the secret was out on their being married, then. Not that he minded.] That would explain why he happened to be pacing the beach when I landed, like I was ten minutes late for a date.
[He nods. It sounds like Takashi. Taking care of everyone but himself, even if the person he wanted to take care of wasn't here yet. And he had no way of knowing when, or if, Adam would appear.]
It's so strange, the time differences. And the-- [he winces for a second] squid situation.
What, you've never been a squid before? [He's teasing. Sort of.] I mean. Sure, you might eat and poop from the same hole. But it's not so bad.
[He imagines Wakers could have a much easier job of fishing newbies from the ocean if they mastered shifting in and out of their squid forms. Not everybody wants to learn, though.]
Me and Tuck? [They're here. They've got their kid. That's what he tries to focus on.] ...What do you mean?

How about you? How long have you been here?

Is he...
[Adam clears his throat.]
Is that normal, do you know?

[There's no judgment in Vyng's tone. He and Tuck kept their tent pitched on the beach their first few months.]

[Then, hesitantly--]
Were you and ... Tuck alright?
